12-Week God, Sex and Love

St. John Paul’s collection of Wednesday audiences given in the early 1980’s brought about a powerful revival in the Catholic discussion of the meaning of sexuality, marriage, and the family in light of Divine Revelation. Dubbed ‘The Theology of the Body,’ these teachings reveal insights about the body as a means and foundation of personal expression and communion and the supernatural character of marriage. In this 12-part series we will examine these extraordinary teachings of St. John Paul, while unpacking the Church’s understanding on more controversial issues surrounding human sexuality: adultery, fornication, masturbation, divorce, contraception, pornography, homosexuality, and natural family planning. We shall examine how the rejection of these teachings by contemporary culture reveals a rejection in the theological dimension of the human person, as well as the consequences of this rejection on human happiness and social stability.
