The Ten Secrets

Something I Do Not Understand
I want to share with you something I do not understand. As World War I raged, Pope Benedict XV repeatedly appealed to the leaders of the warring nations, including the United States, begging them to bring the conflict to an end. But the world seemed bent on self-destruction. Neither side was willing to stop.
On May 5th, 1917, the Pope begged Mary to intervene. Eight days later, she appeared to three little children at Fatima. She told them that the war would end soon, but warned that if humanity did not turn away from sin, our sin would bring a worse war which would begin during the pontificate of Pius XI. The world did not convert, and the worse war came.
We blame Hitler and Stalin and certainly they bear terrible responsibility. But the message of Fatima goes deeper: the root cause of war is the sin of the world. World War II was the terrible harvest of sin multiplying throughout humanity. In that sense, the whole world was to blame.
Then, in 1981, Our Lady began to appear to six young people in Medjugorje, and the apparitions continue to this day. Once again, Mary has come to call all humanity to conversion before our sins bring terrible consequences upon the world. According to Father René Laurentin, the foremost expert on Medjugorje, “Self-destruction because of sin: this is precisely the message of the ten secrets which have not yet been divulged but are destined to be so.”
The world will eventually receive three dramatic warnings which will include a supernatural, permanent, and indestructible sign appearing on Apparition Hill. The ninth and tenth secrets concern what humanity’s sins will do to the world and the devastating consequences that will follow. Yet Our Lady has also said that she has not come to announce the destruction or the end of the world. The world will not end, but it will change.
If this unfolds as it has been described, we may be approaching the most significant events in human history since the time of Noah. And they are expected to occur within the lifetime of Mirjana, who is now in her sixties, and the priest she has chosen to announce the secrets, who is now in his eighties.
So here is what I do not understand: Why does almost no one talk about this? Why do so many people simply tune it out? More importantly, why do we continue living as though none of it matters? Why do we keep putting off conversion?
In the Third Part of the Secret of Fatima, Mary showed the children a vision of a world in ruins, a world devastated by man’s sin. That secret was revealed in the year 2000. Why then? Because it is for us now. A mother is warning her children, and most of us are too distracted to listen.

Medjugorje
On September 19th, 2024, the Vatican through the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith gave Medjugorje a nihil obstat, the highest positive evaluation possible under the new guidelines. The essence of Our Lady's Message at Medjugorje is to warn us of world wide self-destruction because of sin and the call to conversion through prayer.
“Be Converted!” Our Lady tells us, “It will be too late when the sign comes. Beforehand, several warnings will be given to the world. Have people hurry to be converted. I need your prayers and your penance…The only thing that I would want to tell you is be converted. Make that known to all my children as quickly as possible. No pain, no suffering is too great to me to save you…You cannot imagine what is going to happen nor what the Eternal Father will allow to come to earth. That is why you must be converted.”

A Letter to the Pope
In a letter sent to Pope John Paul II on December 2th, 1983, Fr. Tomislav Vlašić reported what the Medjugorje visionaries had said about the ten secrets entrusted to them by Our Lady. His account of the warnings was based primarily on what Mirjana had related to him. According to Mirjana, before the permanent sign appears, two warnings will come through events on earth. She will know beforehand what will happen and when. In later explanations, Mirjana said that ten days before each event, she will reveal the secret to the priest she has chosen. They will pray and fast for seven days, and then, three days before the event, the priest will announce what will happen and when.
The first two secrets will be warnings calling humanity to conversion. The third will be a supernatural, permanent, and indestructible sign on Apparition Hill, a confirmation of the apparitions and a call back to faith. The final secrets concern serious chastisements resulting from the sins of the world.
But the purpose of the secrets is not to provoke fear, curiosity, or speculation. They are a summons to conversion, reconciliation, prayer, fasting, and penance. According to Mirjana, one evil contained in the seventh secret has already been averted through prayer and fasting. Our Lady reportedly said, “Through prayer and fasting you can avert war and suspend the laws of nature.”

The Purpose of the Secrets
The secrets should not be understood as threats from an angry God eager to punish us. We are already oh so good at punishing ourselves. Father René Laurentin understood their purpose this way, “Self-destruction because of sin: this is precisely the message of the ten secrets which have not yet been divulged but are destined to be so.”
Think about war. Human pride, hatred and greed lead us to destroy one another. Then come the famine, disease, displacement and death that follow from war. We make sinful choices, and bad, very bad consequences flow from them. And those consequences fall not only on the guilty, but on the innocent. God is our perfect and all-loving Father. He does not want us to destroy ourselves. He wants to save us. But he has given us freedom, and our choices have real consequences. Sin is not harmless. It wounds our friendship with God, hurts the people we love, and can devastate whole nations.
So what is the solution? Conversion. Stop sinning. Turn from evil and do good. Turn to Jesus and receive the grace to change. Before it is too late. Before we destroy our families, our communities, and one another. God is not eager to destroy us. He is calling us to stop destroying ourselves.

Your Mission
At the same time Mary was appearing in Medjugorje she was also appearing in the Approved Apparition in San Nicolas Argentina from 1983 to the present. There she said she had come on a rescue mission to save souls from going to hell and to lead them to heaven. But she needs our help stating, “God's warning is over the world. Those who stay in the Lord have nothing to fear, but those who deny what comes from him do. Two-thirds of the world is lost and the other part must pray and make reparation for the Lord to take pity. The devil wants to have full domination over the earth. He wants to destroy. The earth is in great danger."
Two thirds of the world is lost. They are in danger of going to hell by their own free choice. The one third that are willing must do all they can to help the two thirds. She said, "My daughter, because of a few good people, many bad people will be saved.” December 15th, 1986.
The most important way you can help the world is by your own deepening conversion from vice to virtue. And what is the process? It is three simple steps: Come to Jesus with Mary in the Rosary. Listen to Him. Do what He tells you.
The six visionaries of Medjugorje are in agreement. If you are taking the necessary steps each day to deepen your conversion and grow in holiness and love, then you never need to give the secrets another thought. Forget about them. And you certainly don’t need to stock of food or weapons, oh except the Rosary, you should use that weapon every day.
