Thy Will Be Done
In the Our Father Jesus teaches us to pray, “Thy Will be Done.”
I want you to sit with these two questions.
● What happiness do I want?
● What happiness does God want for me?
Those two things may not be the same.
When you realize that your will might not be aligned with God’s will, your first response might be dread. We are terrified of giving up the things we want for ourselves. But there’s really no need for fear. It is not that we want something great for ourselves and God does not want something great for us, but that our imagination is too small. God’s gifts and the happiness He wants for me exceed my imagination.
We, on the other hand, limit ourselves by being attached to our idea of happiness.
We cannot receive the happiness God wants to give until we totally detach from our limited plan.
So, detach, let go of your vision and tell God you choose His.
