Personal Investment One-On-One

What should you do when you have a spouse, child, grandchild, or friend who may be away from the Church or has not yet experienced the love of God? Stop worrying. Delight in them. Make sure they know that you are interested in them and that you know, understand, love and care for them.

  • Tell the Holy Spirit you want to help others grow closer to Jesus.

    • Ask the Holy Spirit for whom you should pray and sacrifice.

    • Commit to intercessory prayer and sacrifice for them every day.

      • Offer up what you did not choose, do not like and cannot change.

  • Invite them to spend time together in friendship and good conversation:

    • Coffee, a meal, take a walk, have drinks.

    • Do what you normally do and invite them to do it together.

  • The goal is to take initiative and genuine Interest in others to:

    • know, understand, love and care for them.

  • The goal is not:

    • to convert them, to teach them, to correct them or tell them things.

  • Have a genuine fascination and interest in their lives:

    • Ask good questions to help them reflect on the most important things in life.

  • Listen for where God may be in their life.

    • Ask questions to discover what they want?

    • What are they missing?

      • We want them to articulate the goals of their life and their motivations.

  • We must approach them with a general detachment to the outcome.

    • The person may not be open now for deeper conversation.

    • If they are not ready for this conversation, the next step would be to take an interest in what they are interested in.

  • Follow up, care and accompaniment:

    • Continue to pray and sacrifice for them.

    • Continue to invest in them through friendship and good conversation.

    • Continue to discern when the time is right to take the next step to:

      • Talk with them about more spiritual things.

      • Help them to see where God is in their life.

      • Help them to discover their hunger and thirst for God.

      • Invite them to pray the Rosary
